Throwback to Simpler Times

Many islanders and Blufftonians are opposed to the new bridge changes that are coming our way while others are excited about the opportunities a new bridge will bring. The community is coming together to challenge the changes that will affect wildlife, neighboring communities, and aesthetics as well as easier commuting and less congestion. While communities have dealt with advancement and struggles through time, we wonder what was challenged back in the 50's when the town wanted to add a bridge? With all the changes lately with the Cross Island Parkway and possible changes to the main bridge, let’s remember simpler times.

New Local Breweries

Are you a craft beer connoisseur? Hilton Head Island has two new breweries that have come to town, and we've heard great things about both. 

Side Hustle Beer Co.

Located on Arrow Road, you can always find people sitting on the picnic tables out front or playing cornhole. They are the smallest craft brewery in South Carolina, but don't let that fool you. Small but large in variety and taste. Click here to visit their FaceBook page.

Why This is Not a Housing Bubble

With home prices continuing to deliver double-digit increases, some are concerned we’re in a housing bubble like the one in 2006. However, a closer look at the market data indicates this is nothing like 2006 for three major reasons.

1. The housing market isn’t driven by risky mortgage loans.

Back in 2006, nearly everyone could qualify for a loan. The Mortgage Credit Availability Index (MCAI) from the Mortgage Bankers’ Association is an indicator of the availability of mortgage money. The higher the index, the easier it is to obtain a mortgage. The MCAI more than doubled from 2004 (378) to 2006 (869). Today, the index stands at 130. BCD- Rat Pack Revue Concert

The Burnt Church Distillery Concert Series continues this weekend with the Rat Pack Revue. 

The concert will take place in the distillery from 4-7pm. Tickets are $10 per person and benefit SOAR Special Recreation.

This is such a great venue. The atmosphere is amazing and so beautiful. I could stay in there for hours and just look around. The bottles, the labels, the windows, the brick....it is all stunning. Enjoy a cocktail (or two!) and listen to the talented Rat Pack Revue.
